When it comes to comparing infant car seats, you may find yourself studying the Chicco Keyfit 30 Car seat and the Graco Snugride 35 Car Seat. Aside from the obvious difference, which is the price, these two infant car seats are very similar.
First of all, both the Chicco Keyfit 30 and the Graco Snugride 35 are rear-facing only infant car seats with EPS, energy-absorbing foam. Both infant car seats offer a 5-point adjustable harness, removable infant inserts, LATCH installation and seat belt installation, as well as easy-to-read level indicators. So, what’s the difference?
Chicco Keyfit 30 Vs. Graco Snugride 35 – Differences
The Chicco Keyfit 30 Infant Car Seat is rated to carry babies from 4 pounds to 30 pounds.
The Graco Snugride 35 is rated to carry babies from 5 pounds to 35 pounds.
The extra 5 pounds that you get with the Graco Snugride 35 comes in handy, allowing you to prolong the purchase of an expensive convertible car seat, but the extra 1 pound minimum on the Chicco Keyfit 30 allows you to carry lower birth weight babies.
Although both infant car seats offer easy-to-read bubble levelers, the Chicco Keyfit 30 comes with a spring-assisted foot leveler on the base that makes installation that much more easier. Plus, the Chicco Keyfit 30 also offers a center-pull LATCH system, which is the main reason why it was rated the Number 1 easiest car seat to install.
The Graco Snugride 35 offers a one-handed dial adjustment for leveling, which is also quite handy. The Sungride 35 was listed as one of the TOP 3 safest car seats by leading consumer magazines. Now that’s impressive!
As far as reviews go, both infant car seats did really well. The Chicco Keyfit 30 had the most reviews with the highest customer satisfaction rating. The only complaints were regarding the seat material being too hot, and the fact that it’s big and therefore heavy.
The Graco Snugride 35 actually had the same complaints, as well as a few complaints regarding the missing shopping cart slot in the bottom of the seat. Actually, both of these infant car seats were designed without the shopping cart slot, you know the one that fits on top of the grocery cart. Although this slot can come in handy, the fact that it’s missing on both infant car seats is intentional. Manufacturers have decided that this is not safe, and therefore have been leaving this feature out on their newest infant car seat designs.
The only other difference between these two infant car seats is price. The Chicco Keyfit 30 Infant Car Seat normally lists for $189.99, and the Graco Snugride 35 usually lists for $169.99. However, both car seats are currently on sale at Amazon. See the sale prices below.
