Graco ComfortSport Car Seat Review

What I Like:Graco ComfortSport Car Seat Review - Jette

First of all, the Graco ComfortSport is what I consider to be one of the affordable options. It is both a rear-facing and forward-facing car seat for under $100 dollars. It’s also safe.

The Graco ComfortSport offers EPS, energy absorbing foam all around, plus it’s also been rigorously crash tested and meets or exceeds all the U.S. Safety Standards. In fact, if you want to see how it performed in a Side-Impact Test, you can see it on YouTube here.

The Graco ComfortSport also comes with a couple of extra’s, like the cup holder, which I think is very practical, and the removable head support.

Also, it’s not called the ComfortSport for nothing! The little ones really seem to love it. I noticed that several of the reviewers were using the Graco ComfortSport as more of an in-between seat. They wanted to keep their little ones rear-facing for a little while longer before they transitioned to a combination harness to booster seat. What I noticed was that a lot of the little ones transitioning from an infant car seat seemed much more content in the ComfortSport.

What I Don’t Like:

I realize that the Graco ComfortSport is meant to be the “affordable option” but I’m a little disappointed that it only goes up to 30 pounds rear-facing. That’s less than some infant car seats. The norm now for convertible car seats is at the least 40 pounds rear-facing.

I’m also disappointed that it only goes up to 40 pounds overall and 40 inches tall. That is the lowest max weight that I’ve seen on a convertible car seat.

Customer Feedback:

As far as reviews go, the Graco ComfortSport Car Seat did okay. With 97 out of 135 rating it 4 to 5 stars, and 5 being the max, that’s about a 72% customer satisfaction rating. Many of the reviewers felt that it was a decent car seat at a decent price. There were even a couple reviewers that unfortunately had accidents with it. Thankfully, in the end, their little ones walked away without even a scratch.

Graco ComfortSport Car Seat Review - BucklesAs for complaints, there were a few. The buckles on the harness are somewhat difficult to operate. It takes a fair amount of force to get it to snap in. That was the number one complaint.

The number two complaint was probably regarding installation. It’s a pain to install rear-facing, and chances are, you’ll probably have to use a rolled up towel or pool noodle to get the right angle. There were a few reviewers that felt that even after proper installation, the Graco ComfortSport was not reclined back far enough for their infant.

A few reviewers also complained about it being too big to fit rear-facing in their vehicles, but that’s par for the course when it comes to convertible car seats. The Graco ComfortSport is actually a little smaller than most, but if you plan on using it in a small to mid-sized car, you may only be able to fit it in the center of the back seat. Some cars do not have LATCH in the center position, so keep that in mind too. You may have to use the vehicles seat belts to get a secure install.

The Graco ComfortSport is a decent car seat at a decent price. It’s comfortable and safe, and those are the priorities. I do wish that it had a higher weight limit in both the rear-facing and forward-facing positions, but for the price, it will do.
