Britax B-Safe Vs. Chicco Keyfit 30 – Best Infant Car Seat

Britax B-Safe Vs. Chicco KeyfitIn comparison, the Chicco Keyfit 30 and the Britax B-Safe Infant Car Seats have several similarities, however, there are a few key differences that may help you decide. First of all, let’s take a look at what they have in common. Both of these infant car seats are rear-facing only and will carry as little as 4 pounds all the way up to 30 pounds. Both the Chicco Keyfit 30 and the Britax B-Safe offer EPS, energy-absorbing foam, and adjustable 5-point child safety harness’s. Both infant car seats also offer removable infant inserts with head support, multi-position canopies, and ergonomic carrying handles for comfort. Both the Chicco Keyfit 30 and the Britax B-Safe also offer lower LATCH connectors, and seat belt installation, as well as an adjustable base and easy-to-read level indicators. So, what’s the difference?

Chicco Keyfit 30 Infant Car Seat – Fuego

You may have already noticed that the Chicco Keyfit 30 Infant Car Seat lists for $189.99, while the Britax B-Safe Infant Car Seat lists for $179.99. So why is the Chicco Keyfit 30 more expensive? That’s a really good question, especially since the Britax B-Safe offers more features, like the additional energy-absorbing foam found in the seat, or the removable shoulder and belly pads. I also noticed that the Britax B-Safe offers 2 buckle positions and 4 harness heights, whereas the Chicco Keyfit 30 only offers one buckle position and 3 harness heights. The seat belt lock-offs are different too. The Britax B-Safe has a clip that locks down tight, in fact it’s so tight it’s actually hard to push down. The Chicco Keyfit 30 has a lock-off, but it’s not quite as durable as the Britax B-Safe, and it doesn’t include a clip that snaps closed. The only thing I can figure is that the Chicco Keyfit 30 was rated the #1 easiest car seat to install.
