If you’re on the hunt for the best convertible car seat, chances are you’ll find yourself comparing the Britax Advocate 70 CS and the Britax Boulevard 70 CS. These two convertible car seats are extremely similar, with the Britax Advocate 70 being the next step up from the Britax Boulevard 70. Let me explain some of the differences and hopefully help you decide which one works best for you and your child.

What does CS stand for?
First of all, I feel it’s important to mention that the Britax Boulevard 70 comes in two models, the original model and the CS model. The CS stands for Click & Safe, which is a technology that Britax created to take out the guess work when comes to securing your child. The CS model is usually more expensive, costing around $40 dollars more. I personally feel that it’s a waste of money. You already know that your child needs to be snug as a bug in their car seat, so why pay an extra $40 bucks to hear a little clicking sound. The only time I think it would come in handy is if you have someone else transporting your child, someone like Grandma or Grandpa, someone that’s not quite as well trained in the art of securing a child into a car seat. Then again, if Grandma or Grandpa is hard at hearing, they may not even hear the clicking sound. My point is, the Britax Boulevard 70 has the option of CS or no CS, whereas the Britax Advocate 70 only comes in the CS model.
Now, if you’ve been doing a lot of research, chances are that you already know that Britax Car Seats are number one for safety. The reason for this is because they offer safety features that you will NOT find on any other brand. For instance, both the Britax Advocate 70 and the Britax Boulevard 70 offer energy-absorbing Versa-Tethers, SafeCell Technology, and True Side Impact Protection. The Britax Advocate 70 has gone one step further, offering Side Impact Cushion Technology.
As you can see from the picture, these Side Impact Cushions are placed on the outside of the car seat. They are designed to divert side-impact crash forces away from your child.
After extensive research, Britax has proven that they do indeed reduce crash energy by 45%. They also provide protection to adjacent passengers. Now, because of these Side Impact Cushions, the Britax Advocate 70 is a bit wider and a bit heavier. The Britax Boulevard 70 is 18.5 inches wide, whereas the Britax Advocate 70 is 22 inches wide. Also, the Britax Advocate 70 weighs about 2 pounds more.
Then there’s the price tag. The Britax Advocate 70 CS lists for $379.99, and the Britax Boulevard 70 CS lists for $339.99, unless you fancy the original Britax Boulevard without the CS which lists for $319.99.
Now I have found that the BEST prices are on Amazon, and all three of these convertible car seats are currently on sale. These are the sale prices.
